So Pokemon is 20 yrs old this year, so I am celebrating by doing multiple post on Pokemon ( a sires I know more about than Star Wars, don't get to say that sentence much). So today we are going to talk about Pokemon breeding ( and I am just getting this out of the way now, Pokemon evolution is not evolution it's just growing up) which even thought you send your Pokemon to the daycare for them to take care of them, when/ if the egg pops up they don't know how it got there ( logic Game Freak knows none). So in Pokemon there are six main stats HP, Attack, Defense, Special Attack, Special Defense, and Speed. Now when you catch a Pokemon it has a base amount of stats only it doesn't because there is already something in play that you may not be aware about. IV's ( Individual Values) are the hidden bells and whistles that work as a Pokemon's stat genetics ( now EV ( Effort Values) are being trained in that skill, IV's are what is already in them, and the base stats are what that Pokemon will start out with before IV's and EV's take affect). Now when two Pokemon are in the same egg group ( think of it as species with a twist ( not going to go into it here) except for Ditto, because Ditto gets around) they can have an egg, and that egg will always be the creature of the mother unless it's a Ditto then whatever the non Ditto Pokemon is will be what is in the egg. However The aforementioned IV's will be a random mixed between the parent's IV's to see what the resulting Pokemon will have. Other things like moves can be breed by the father, and there are some moves that can only be learned by breeding ( It's is different for every Pokemon) but since real animals don't have moves I won't discuss it more. But I thought that IV's being the equivalent to genetic diversity in the real world ( with all of it's randomness to) was really cool. So that is all for now and I will probably make this a sires of post so watch out for those when they come.
