Earthquakes

OK, look where I live the is almost now way that an earthquake would have it's epicenter in my area. Now most earthquakes ( as far as the US is considered) take place on the west cost. Now that is because most of the west coast is on the fault line between the Pacific and North American plates. Now if an earthquake would take on the east coast the most likely candidate would be Florida, because it is close to the fault line between the North and South American plates. Now there have been some recent earthquakes that have had there epicenter in Virginia, but fault lines just increase the likely hood of one.

Now as stated previously there are no hot spots for earthquakes in this area. In fact the closes place to an earthquake hot spot from where I live is on the other side of the country. Now let's  say that an earthquake would have it's epicenter in Virginia, then you would feel it down here ( depending on the size). Actually funny story about that, I was having my mattress replaced and was sleeping on an air mattress and I wake up one morning to discover that the ground it self had decided to give me a wake up call. It turns out that later I found out it was an earthquake up in Virginia that had sent tremors all the way down here. And now a picture of the  fault lines from http://d1h8qm6whtl6z3.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/Week-3-All.png
