What Goes Down When The Lights Go On
I need to charge my phone, but what will it cost. For me it was $0.06, i say only a nickle and a penny is pretty good. Now It only cost $3.80 to power my house each day ( BTW that is a rough estimate). Now what would be the worst time of the week for my power bill? The answer is the weekend, because me and my dad are at the house most of the day running up the power bill. Now what month would be the worst for my power bill? I would say July, Because air conditioning cost a lot more heating and school is out so I sit around and use electronic entertainment. Now my house uses 1,140 kWh of energy each day. so that is a big number so how can I reduce that? What I come up with is having an automatic thermostat that could turn-down the heat/ air when you are not home.

Interstellar
So a day or two ago we watched Interstellar which got weird towards the end, but I am no critic so I am not going to judge the movies artistic nature I am just here to talk about the science so let's do that. The first thing that I would like to discuss is the reason that the movie says we would have to recolonize is that we used up all of are resources except for a few crops like corn, and the world has basically has become a global dust-bowl. Now If ( and let's be perfectly honest hear, when) this happen in real life what steps could we take to prevent it now. The best idea I could find was ( FYI this is just referring to the food shortage) we start a global food bank where each season farmers would put x percent of the crops that won't spoil and just keep that in revers until we need it. Thought an idea that seem more realistic is GMO's which would allow crops to adapt to a new climate or region, and it could help the crops survive several natural disasters. Now GMO's are something that many people including myself are very skeptical of, but I believe that some of them can have very healthy and financial success. Now let's come back to Interstellar and say that all of are efforts are fruitless and it's the end of the world as we know it, what conditions do we need to find on a planet for us to be able to safely colonize? So the first condition is the planet needs to be in the habitat zone around whatever star it is orbiting which is very rare but there is also a high probability that their are an infinite number of worlds so it is not as as hard as it might seem. Second thing is it needs water and I am already making a childern's book about how water go here so that link will be in the comments. Last thing ( that we will be discussing) is an atmosphere that can protect the planet from UV rays, the right amount of pressure, and must contain carbon dioxide and oxygen. So I will just say screw that crap let's just build a spaceship find a planet that has the resources that we can't create artificially like water ( to an extent we can't make it artificially) and bring it up from other planets. And are waste we can just shoot to the nearest star instead of wasting space on the station or on another planet and just hop from sustainable planet to sustainable planet. So now like Interstellar we are in the realm of Sci-Fi no Sci so this will be as good as a place as any to stop and reflect on the existence of humanity. That is it, that is all tell me how crazy i am in the comments and watch Interstellar it is actually a good movie, don't believe what Andy Signor will tell you.

Crucial Skill: Evidence
Bad science is something that the media will uses so that they can make an article that claims something absurd like for example and article heading may look like this, Studies show that all Arsonist have lit a match at one point in there life. Now that is a blatantly evil example of click bait, but the media knows how to be clever and crafty about how they write every part of there article. But that is not what we are hear to talk about, we are here to talk about bad science not the evil of the media so lets talk about Bad Science. The article that I will be using as an example is linked right here http://www.cnn.com/2016/02/02/health/fish-alzheimers-brain-mercury/index.html. So first lets talk about good science, good science is science that has factual data that cannot be disputed or that at least is honest ( lookup pharmaceutical corruption to understand what I am talking about) about it data. So lets look at how this article uses bad science, first up this test was conduced from 1997-2013 the survey done in Chicago on middle age people that asked them about there diets. Once those people had died they collected their brains and examined them. So one of the first things that they found was that the patients that had eaten more fish had higher levels of mercury than normal. However that article is saying that the fish could prevent alzheimers in middle age people. Now form what I now about Alzheimer is that it may be hereditary and that cases have come in form people of the age of 40 and above, so I pose a question a majority of cases I have heard and read about have had people showing people that are middle age beginning to show symptoms of it, so if these people never showed symptoms that means that they either didn't have it at all or the article is correct. However there was no control group so we don't know exactly if all of these peoples Hippopotamus would have begun to deteriorated or not. This article was a bit shady on how the whole trial worked but all I can say is that I diagnoses it to be suffering for a case of bad science.

We are the Champions
To me the word sustainability means that being able to keep yourself alive for as long as possible
It would take 5.8 planet earths to sustain a population of nothing but me and my lifestyle
I could eat more local food and recycle more.
